Sonardyne Compatt 6
Compatt 6 is the industry standard Long BaseLine (LBL) transponder used for high precision survey and construction operations in all water depths, including: spoolpiece metrology, pipeline touchdown monitoring, structure installation and dynamic positioning reference. It is fully compatible with all of Sonardyne’s 6G® (sixth generation) LBL, USBL and LUSBL systems; Fusion 6G, Ranger 2 and Marksman
Description
Compatt 6 offers significant time saving using faster and more robust Sonardyne Wideband®2 acoustic ranging and telemetry protocols. This makes any system operating with Compatt 6 significantly easier to operate therefore de-risking operations, reducing vessel time and reducing training requirements for offshore personnel.
Sonardyne Wideband®2 advanced signal processing offers improved acoustic performance in challenging conditions, longer range, improved multipath rejection around structures and real-time range diagnostics for quality control. Sonardyne Wideband®2 also reduces the interference to and from adjacent Sonardyne and other acoustic positioning systems. With over 500 unique addresses the Compatt 6 family of transponders offer the lowest risk for any subsea operation.
The integrated communications and navigation technology allows the transponder to be used as a multi-purpose modem, autonomous data logger and navigation reference transponder.
Compatt 6 Family
COMPATT TRANSPONDER FAMILY – WHICH ONE IS RIGHT FOR YOUR APPLICATION?
Standard
Compatt 6 Standard is the positioning workhorse of the subsea construction industry. Its design, field proven in offshore developments around the world, offers the perfect balance between size, acoustic output and battery life. Several depth ratings are available starting at 3,000 metres, increasing to 5,000 metres and 7,000 metres. All are hard anodised Aluminium alloy with protective polyurethane sleeve. Depending on the application, Compatt 6 Standard can be configured with a wide variety of different endcap sensor options (including temperature, inclinometer, DigiQuartz pressure sensor) and a highly robust acoustic release to aid recovery at the end of an operation.
Micro
Micro Compatt 6 is our smallest ever LBL transponder. Designed for short duration missions such as spoolpiece metrology or dynamic mobile mapping, Micro Compatt 6 is perfect for installation on Inspection-class ROVs where payload is limited.
Mini
Compatt 6 Mini is the smallest in the range of Compatt 6 transponders. The design offers the user a lightweight unit with the same acoustic output power as a Compatt 6 Standard transponder, but without the integrated sensor system. Compatt 6 Mini is therefore perfectly suited to deep water vehicle navigation and telemetry applications using smaller ROVs and towed bodies in water depths up to 7,000 metres.
Midi
Compatt 6 Midi shares many of the same features and acoustic output capabilities of a Compatt 6 Standard but is offered with a small, long life Lithium battery pack and shorter length housing. The design lends itself well to acoustic metrology campaigns where the shorter length and optional integrated inclinometer, reduces the lever arm and therefore errors for offsetting transducer-to-endcap. Compatt 6 Midi is available with a wide range of integrated sensors and bottom endcap options including; acoustic release, sound velocity and inclionmeter.
Maxi
Compatt 6 Maxi is designed to reduce the total deployment costs associated with vessel time installing reference transponders during both drilling and construction phases of large field developments. The ultra long battery life enables Compatt 6 Maxi transponders to be left in-situ through out all drilling and construction activities therefore saving vessel installation time which reduces operational cost. Compatt 6 Maxi is compatible with all aspects of drilling and construction activity by being compatible with Sonardyne’s Marksman DP position reference systems installed on many drilling and construction vessels.
Mega
The Compatt 6 Mega is a long endurance USBL transponder based on the field proven technology of Compatt 6 with a form factor that can provide up to three times the battery life of the standard model. The ultra-long battery life enables Compatt 6 Mega transponders to be left on the seabed for longer, with the potential to provide vessel positioning throughout all drilling and construction activities, resulting in significant set-up and operational cost savings during extended acoustic positioning campaigns.
